New Technology and Strategy to Clean Beaches Approved by BP

HOUSTON, TX, Tuesday, July 13, 2010 - Clean Beach Technologies, LLC, received official approval from BP on July 9, 2010 for deployment of its Beach Restoration System™ (BRS), which was chosen by BP from over 100,000 submissions. This new technology enables cleaning and remediation of contaminated sand on site, eliminating the need and costs of removal or disposal to remote locations such as landfills.  Municipalities will no longer have to replace their unique sand.

As verified in a demonstration at Pensacola Beach, FL, the BRS™ can also accommodate the multiple layers of contamination generated by sequential tidal activity that deposits new layers of oil on the beach every day. Given the unknown duration and changing location of the oil deposition, the portable BRS™ can be moved as required to remediate sand anywhere.  Inventors Gary Stevenson and Dan Whitcher of the Houston based Clean Beach Technologies adapted this new technology from their invention designed to separate sand from oil in the oil sand pits of Alberta, Canada.
